UQAM's Lab Bands
Thanks to the partnership between the Department of Music of UQAM and the Harmonie nouveaux horizons de Montréal, our musicians have the opportunity to participate in the lab bands of the courses "Ensemble collectif et direction des instruments à vent" and "Technique de direction", with the students of the Bachelor in Music Education.
In these courses, students learn to conduct ensembles in which their colleagues play an instrument other than their principal instrument. This experience prepares them to teach ensemble music and wind, woodwind and percussion instrumental techniques in the school setting.
Members of the Adagio and Allegro bands are invited to participate in these classes: what an opportunity! The repertoire is at the beginner level (Grade 0.5 to 2.5) to allow as many people as possible to participate. Rehearsals take place once a week (Wednesday evenings) between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. and are spread out over approximately 7 weeks each session.
Specific information (exact dates and times) is sent to members by email in September and January.
If you have any questions, please contact us and we will put you in touch with members who have participated in these activities in the past.
We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the activities of the UQAM Preparatory School of Music, which offers several private and group courses, as well as the activities of the UQAM Music Department, most of which are free.
